Tuesday
First karate, then bookstore, then home, then lunch, then out to Bayshore for Henry’s classes (theater, mythology, stagecraft). While he was in class I went home, finished his first Bamboo sock, did some proofing/editing of my Etiquette chapter, planned dinner, did housework, taught a piano student, and practiced the piano. Drove back out to get Henry. When we got home he helped me make dinner — stuffed cabbage rolls with his home-grown cabbage! A very tasty dinner.

Hi, Kara
I can’t find anywhere your email, so I’ll just leave a comment.
Just wanted to thank you for the audiobooks you make.
They help me a lot in improving my English. I have been through with “Heidi” and now with great pleasure I listen to the “Our Island Story”.
Thanks again and Good Luck!

How do you find knitting bamboo yarn?

Kristin — it’s great! It’s the Regia 45% bamboo / 40% superwash wool / 15% nylon, meant specifically for socks. The yarn store guy says it wears well. It’s very pleasant to knit with — feels like a wool/cotton blend, not slippery, not splitty, behaves well on my wooden needles. The fabric is soft, springy, and resilient (so far — hasn’t been worn or washed yet). I would buy it again in a heartbeat, although I do wish it came in plain colors. I chose a brown/blue colorway for Henry’s socks. It’s not self-striping, thank goodness, just pleasantly mottled. There’s a white fiber (the bamboo? the nylon?) twisted candy-cane fashion around the brown/blue, which gives the whole sock a misty look. Very pretty.
