Half Magic, ch 1, 2, 3

It’s time for a new story in the “Kayray Reads to You” podcast. This is “Half Magic” by Edward Eager, a wonderful book and the first part of a whole series of in which ordinary children have magic adventures. The author acknowledges his debt to E. Nesbit in every book. I hope you enjoy this one, and I hope you’ll track down more of Eager’s books. Ooo look, here’s a lovely little boxed set!

You are our favorite reader. Many of your books are part of our Ambleside Online curriculum and when we know you are the reader we feel blessed. Thank you for what you do.

    Blessings,

    Hi Kara,
Thank you so much for reading so many wonderful books.
I have sent you a comment long time ago to let you know LOTS OF Japanese are really enjoying your Audio Books. And we are even more!

By the way, I am just wondering if you might find this book enjoyable to read. “Martin Pippin in the Apple Orchard” by Eleanor Farjeon. ( http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/2032 ). I know I can make a suggestion to LibriVox Forum but I thought it would be great if you like it. If it is not something you may be interested in, then, I will make a suggestion to the Forum. I hope you don’t mind that I ask you…just because I am so much in love with your readings. Thanks so much!

    Hi Dill,

So glad you like the audio books :)

Suggestions are great! I took a look at “Martin Pippin in the Apple Orchard”, and I guess it’s not really my kind of book. (I’m not very fond of fantasy, usually.) I’m sure someone would enjoy recording it, though, so I do hope you will post it in the Book Suggestions forum.

    Happy listening!

HI our dear Kara, i download your books for my sister, but unfortunately couldn`t find the text of this story, in order to read and listen. How can i get it

You’ll have to find it at your library (difficult in Kyrgyzstan, perhaps!) or buy a copy somewhere: http://www.amazon.com/Half-Magic-Edward-Eager/dp/0152020683/

    Good luck!

You are absolutely wonderful! I was casually scrolling through your site when your audio of HALF MAGIC caught my eye. I first found that amazing book when I was 11 years old. We were spending the sumer in San Diego complete with long, hot walks home from the library, just like the kids in the book. I’d read one of mine aloud as I walked home with my younger sisters, again, just like the kids in the book. We all absolutely loved this story and I read it straight through to them, ahem…just like the kids in the book. Lol. Alas, we never found our own magic coin, but I was hooked on Edward Eager with a vengeance after that.

And as for your recording, it’s so professionally done and your voice is extremely appealing. I’ve purchased high priced audio books that were rendered unlistenable (is that a word?) by the reader’s voice. Your reading voice is the satisfying equivalent of coming home, settling in before a cozy fire with hot cocoa and a great new book to read.

    Thank you so much!
